Welcome!

Reprisal Chapter, NSDAR
Rooted in service, history, and patriotism, the Reprisal Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, (NSDAR or DAR), has proudly contributed to the Newport, New Hampshire, community since our founding in 1896. We are honored to be one of twenty-five chapters within the New Hampshire State Organization Daughters of the American Revolution (NHSODAR).
Since 1890, the DAR has brought together women dedicated to historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the organization is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization with chapters across the United States and around the world.
Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence is eligible to join.

The Little Red School House
Since 1951, the Reprisal Chapter, NSDAR, has owned and cared for the Little Red School House, an 1835 one-room schoolhouse originally serving District No. 7 in Newport. The school remained in use until 1885 and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Inside, visitors can explore museum displays, period furnishings, and the original blackboard, experiencing a glimpse of 19th-century education. The Little Red School House has welcomed guests at no charge every Saturday in July and August since 1952, a tradition proudly maintained solely by our chapter.

Deep Community Roots
The Reprisal Chapter, NSDAR, is proud to be an active and engaged presence in our community. We meet throughout the year on Saturdays and offer many opportunities to connect, learn, and participate.
Our gatherings and activities include potluck luncheons and social time, field trips to historical sites, community and patriotic events, educational programs featuring guest speakers, and service projects supporting veterans, students, and local history.
Above all, we value friendship, shared purpose, and having fun together. We welcome visitors at all meetings; please join us!
